Our Story

Born in the mountains. Built for the ones who dare.

What began as a vision to address the gaps in Nepal's tourism safety evolved through years of research, UNDP-backed training programs, GIS system development with Tribhuvan University, and rigorous market assessment — culminating in the formal establishment of Himalayan Guardian Nepal in Kathmandu in July 2025. Today, HGN delivers the Comprehensive Tourism Guard (CTG) — an integrated safety solution combining insurance, GPS tracking, satellite communication, and rapid emergency response for adventurers in the Himalayas.

We envisioned a Nepal where no tourist faces the mountains without trusted safety, transparent rescue, and real-time protection.

Our Journey

Tourism Safety Concept Inception

During his tenure as CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Dr. Dhananjay Regmi identified critical challenges facing Nepal's tourism sector, particularly regarding tourist safety, reliability of rescue services, and the growing issue of fraudulent rescue practices. In response, he conceptualized a comprehensive tourism safety framework aimed at ensuring secure, reliable, and accountable tourism operations across the country.

Safety Program Implementation with UNDP Support

With financial and technical support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), a nationwide safety training program was initiated. This program focused on capacitating trekking guides and porters with essential survival, emergency response, and tourist safety skills. The initiative was designed as a sustainable model under NTB to ensure standardized safety practices across Nepal's tourism workforce.

Development of Nepal Tourism GIS System

To strengthen real-time rescue and safety response mechanisms, a customized Geographic Information System (GIS) was developed in collaboration with Tribhuvan University under the guidance of Dr. Regmi. This system enhanced Nepal's tourism safety infrastructure by integrating scientific data and geospatial intelligence, significantly improving response time and decision-making capabilities.
